I hope you are all safe and healthy during these trying times. We here at the office have, unfortunately, been closed down for the last 2 months, only seeing emergencies. We are only now getting permission to reopen under strict guidelines, which could change depending on numbers and instruction from the Federal, State and County leadership, as well as the CDC, ADA and CDA.
The staff is on furlough for the time being but I will be opening the office with restricted hours and patients to fit the new guidelines and to provide a safe environment.
I will be doing all procedures personally for the time being. I will be contacting all patients, personally, that were cancelled since this all began and who have upcoming appointments, to explain the situation and protocols and if they are comfortable returning, schedule an appointment.
If people would like to wait to a time in the future, I will place those on a call later list. Anyone can call at any time if they feel they are ready.
All emergencies will be accommodated as soon as possible.
I have been working during this time on modifications needed for this situation (you may also see some cosmetic changes as well, with more to come).
Please see the Appointment Protocols for further information
We are looking forward to working our way back to normal and providing your long overdue and continuing Dental Care.
Thank you
Modifications
1) The office may look barer. I have moved a lot of “unneeded” items from common areas to allow for easier sanitizing.
2) There is a plexiglass screen at the check-out desk.
3) We will be working only out of one operatory and the hygiene area, since only one patient will be in the office at a time. We will eventually have one per room, without overlap.
4) The operatories have Hepa filters to clean the air.
5) Staff will be wearing additional PPE and procedures will involve additional steps to ensure protection for all.
Under current conditions the following modifications will be in affect but may change as things progress.
- Only one patient will be in the office at a time. Patients will only spend time in the operatory, at the check-out desk or the restroom.
- As infection control has always been in effect, we will continue our processes but with increased diligence. All areas will be sanitized between patients.
- Staff will be donning extra protective gear.
- Areas of use in the office will have unneeded items removed to allow for easier and more efficient sanitizing.
- To start, the doctor alone will be performing all procedures, with the gradual reintroduction of the hygienist and assistant.
Appointment Day
1) If you have any of the following symptoms please delay your treatment, unless it is a true emergency. Then discuss with office prior
- Fever
- Cough
- Other Flu like symptoms
- Positive test for Covid-19
2) Please download and fill out the Covid-19 Patient Screening Form prior to your Appointment. If you don’t have access to a printer, we will have forms on hand.
3) On arrival stay in car and call office. Someone will open door for you when we are ready for you to enter office.
4) Wear a mask to the office. Also gloves if you wish. We have hand sanitizer upon your entry.
5) Once the form has been reviewed your temperature will be taken and, if normal, will be escorted to the operatory.
6) Once in the operatory you will be asked to rinse for 30 seconds with a mixture of Chlorhexidine (a prescription level mouthwash) and Hydrogen Peroxide, for 30 seconds.
7) Once you are seated, glasses will be placed and your mask will be placed over your nose only, to limit aerosol.
8) For some procedures a Rubber Dam will be placed in limit aerosol dispersion. The Cavitron (vibrating/water spraying hygiene device) will not be used, hand scaling only to also limit aerosol.
9) After all procedures are completed you will be escorted to the check- out desk where all payment and next appointment steps will be taken. Under the current conditions it may be needed for payment to be made in full and once insurance payments are received a reimbursement made for covered charges.
10) You will then be escorted from the office.
